Strimmers, so called as a derivative of 'string trimmer,' are normally lightweight electric machines. The more serious, petrol powered machines are normally classed as brush cutters, they have a straight shaft and a gearbox, they then have the ability to accept a blade and truly 'cut brush'
Brushcutters are available from 22cc to 50cc, with the smaller units normally being 'loop' handle' and the larger units having double, or 'cowhorn' handles.
