Garden Kit Ltd is based at The Old Sawmills Business Park in the East Devon village of Colaton Raleigh, some 10 miles east of Exeter. Occupying a modern 1500sq ft building, we specialise in the sale and service of garden machinery, from strimmers and lawn mowers to garden tractors.
The owners, Barrie and Lyn Whittock have over 28 years experience as machinery dealers, and along with their daughter Kirby, offer their customers a personal service for all their Garden Machinery needs. We believe that machinery such as a lawnmower should only be sold fully assembled and tested, therefore we concentrate on quality service to local custom rather than ‘boxed’ internet sales but still at competitive prices. All sales are of course supported by our excellent after sales service.
Our preferred brands are , Stiga, Mountfield, Kaaz. Eliet, and Tanaka, all products that we have become comfortable with as agents over the years and trust for their quality, reliability and for their ability to do the job they are intended for. We will only sell a machine that we would buy and use ourselves.
So, whatever equipment you require for your garden, we can help. Maybe a brushcutter from Tanaka, a hedge cutter or long reach hedgetrimmer, a chainsaw, shredder or blower. For the lawn, a petrol mower, ride on or tractor from Stiga. And now, rechargeable 24v, 48v or 80v lithium ion machines are becoming increasingly popular.
And of course, any equipment you may have will also at some point require service or repair. We can handle all servicing and repairs in our modern and well equipped maintainance workshop.
Any machinery is only as good as the fuel that it tuns on, we choose to run all machinery that we sell on Aspen alkylate fuel.
We really are a true 'family business' with good old values. Customer satisfaction is of the utmost imortance to us and we value feedback, both positive and negative on our performance.
Why Buy From Us?
This website has been developed as information for our local customers. We do not sell on-line or by mail order as we firmly believe that these products should only be sold on a face to face basis. In this way we can do our best to ensure that your purchase is matched to your needs and that you are fully conversant with the machinery you have purchased. All sales are conducted in person, in our showroom at Colaton Raleigh, Nr Sidmouth, and the machinery is then fully assembled and prepared prior to handover in full working order. All controls and safety features are explained, along with routine maintenance points.
By keeping our sales to the local area we can ensure that our customers receive the very best in after sales service. Heavy equipment can be delivered locally within East Devon.
Online Purchasing can be Hazardous
We may not match some of the online prices that can be found, but it is worth considering the added value of buying your machinery from us, your local specialist, independent, garden machinery dealer. Should you buy from us you may possibly pay a little more, but after all, you are buying a bit of us as well. A machine purchased from us will be fully assembled, fuelled, oiled and tested. We will explain all the controls to you, as well as telling you which fuels and oils to use, and which holes to put them in.
In the event of you buying a machine that is too heavy for you take away in your car (we will load your car for you) then we can arrange delivery to your home at a time to suit yourself. We will also dispose of all the packaging materials for you. And of course, we are always available to assist in the event of any problems with your machine, and in the rare event of a breakdown we are only too happy to repair the equipment and process any warranty where appropriate.
However, an online price may seem very attractive, but it is worth considering the risk you take with such a purchase. Machines bought on line are seldom assembled and tested, if only because once out of the box and fuelled they cannot be despatched by carrier. So you are very likely to have to wait in to have an unassembled machine dropped on your doorstep by a delivery company.
You will have to assemble it yourself and add the fluids. You should then test it and adjust cables, engine speeds, carburettor settings etc. These are tasks that need doing to ensure easy starting and efficient performance, but procedures you are unlikely to have the skill or equipment to do. Many online purchasers use their machines incorrectly and inefficiently. Should the machine then fail for any reason and you want it repaired by the vendor, you will have to repack it in the original (or similar) packing, and await a carrier collection. Then you will need to wait in yet again for the repaired item to be returned to you.
So that little saving made from buying online can turn into a massive inconvenience.
So please consider us for your purchase and understand why we are a little more expensive but offer so much more for the money.
