SP555R V
Mountfield SP555R V rear roller mower

The SP555R V rear roller mower from Mountfield

Back to Petrol powered Lawn Mowers

The SP555R V is the flagship premium roller rotary lawnmower from Mountfield. Fitted with innovative new Twinclip blade with four cutting surfaces instead of two that leaves a finish that is comparable to a cylinder mower. The first cutting edge of the Twinclip blade reduces the initial length of the grass with the second cutting edge reducing the finished length down to the desired height. The extra finely cut clippings are then blown into the 75 litre collector resulting in aprox 20% more grass in the box than with a conventional blade.

The Honda GCV190 Autochoke engine powers this mower via a large diameter steel rear roller driven by a heavy duty Hi-Torque cone clutch transmission with a torque convertor which combines light and easy operation with smooth acceleration through an infinite range of cutting speeds. The SP555R V also features a new hybrid chassis which has a galvanised and powder coated deep drawn steel cutting deck with a rigid J section lip for maximum strength. An aluminium insert at the rear supports the roller and gearbox. Air flow is enhanced by fins moulded into the polypropylene anti-scalp plate at the front of the mower. Height of cut is adjustable with a single lever offering 8 preset positions from 13mm to 65mm.

This mower is ideally suited to large lawns of up to 2500 sq metres

The Mountfield quality is backed by a 5 yr warranty.

The engine of this machine requires SAE10w30 oil. The engine will be filled prior to delivery, but subsequent oil changes will require 0.6  litres of oil. We suggest that a first oil change is carried out at roughly 10 hours use, then on an annual basis.

We would also suggest that an annual service is carried out.

The engine is designed to run on standard unleaded fuel, but please be aware that this fuel will go stale very quickly so it is best to use fuel that is less than 60 days old or engine problems can occur.

We recommend the use of ASPEN 4 fuel as it will last indefinitely without going stale, so peak performance and starting is always guaranteed. ASPEN 4 is however more expensive than standard petrol and can be purchased in sealed 5 litre cans from ourselves at the Colaton Raleigh shop.
