The Mountfield 2240H lawn tractor has a 102cm working width with a hydrostatic transmission and is suited for gardens up to 3 acre Devon gardens. A tight turning radius makes it easy to cut around trees, borders and garden furniture. All Mountfield ride on mowers cut wider than the wheel width, which means they can cut very close to the edge
A hydrostatic transmission provides forward and reverse speeds hat are infinitely variable. To move forward press the front section of the pedal, the more firmly you press, the faster you will go. For reverse, press the rear section of the pedal. You can change from forward to reverse without declutching. When a customer owns a hydrostatic tractor they nevert want to go back to a manual version.
Grass clippings are blown from the twin bladed deck into a 320l capacity rear mounted collector with an alarm to let you know when the collector is full.
Emptying the collector is done from the driving seat; simply pull the dump lever and the collector opens wide emptying out the clippings without you needing to dismount.
To engage the cutter deck just pull the control switch out for “On” and push it in for “Off”. Height of cut is easily set too with a lever located conveniently at the driver’s left which has 7 cutting heights ranging from 25mm to 80mm.

The engine of this machine requires SAE10W30 oil. The engine will be filled prior to delivery, but subsequent oil changes will require 2.5 litres of oil. We suggest that a first oil change is carried out at roughly 10 hours use, then on an annual basis.
The engine is designed to run on standard unleaded fuel, but please be aware that this fuel will go stale very quickly so it is best to use fuel that is less than 60 days old or engine problems can occur.
We recommend the use of ASPEN 4 fuel as it will last indefinitely without going stale, so peak performance and starting is always guaranteed. ASPEN 4 is however more expensive than standard petrol and can be purchased in sealed 5 litre cans from ourselves at the Colaton Raleigh shop.
